Introduction
Success in life is a matter not so much of
talent or opportunity as of concentration and
perseverance - C.W. Wendte
THE NATIONAL OPEN GYMNASTIC PROGRAM
uses the "Profile" Gymnastic Development System! This
original and highly successful program was the first United
States Jr. Elite Gymnastic Development System for
the selection and development of the
exceptional/elite women gymnast - ages 6 to18. This original American
"Profile System" of learning elite level gymnastics is valued
as the only proven women's gymnastic development
program in the United States. The "Profile System" is
found most successful when begun at early ages of 6 to 9. This
would include such "Profile System" Junior Elite
Developmental Program gymnasts that started at this early age of
6 to 9. With some of the below listed girls continuing in this
"Profile" Junior Elite Developmental Program until teenagers.
to include some of America's Olympic, World, N.C.A.A. best; i.e. Shannon
Miller, Dominique Dawes, Amanda Borden, Amy Chow, Jenny Hanson, Jennifer
Sey, Angie Denkens, Stacey Gunthorpe/their coaches and current
U.S.A. National Team Members, Mohini Bardwha and Ashley Postel.
This proven and
likely the finest independent American "Profile"
Jr. Elite Gymnastic Program is based upon the original U.S.S.R./ Russian
gymnastic "Profile Gymnastic Exercise System" of learning gymnastics.
The original research of the Soviet / Russian gymnastic "Profile
System", was published the U.S.S.R. Journal Gymnastica, in 1973.
"IT IS AMAZING HOW MUCH IS
ACCOMPLISHED IF NO ONE CARES WHO GETS THE CREDIT" -
John Wooden, U.C.L.A.
THE "PROFILE" GYMNAST
PERFORMANCE RECORD:
- Today's and
yesterdays outstanding gymnast performance and
health records show that the Profile Gymnastic
Selection and Development Program is total in its
development. The Profile Gymnastic System
along with its sports medicine, sports science
and state of the art gymnastic techniques taught
are both directly and indirectly responsible for
developing many past and present United States
gymnastic champions!
So, from 1980 through 2004 a great number
of: (1) HIGH SCHOOL, (2) A.A.U., (3) U.S.A.I.G.C., (4) Y.M.C.A.,
(5) N.C.A.A., (6) WORLD and OLYMPIC GAMES champions along with
their excellent coaches selected National Coach Gary Goodson as their
mentor and they and their gymnasts were involved in the "Profile"
National Gymnastic Development Program for many years. In the
1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, four members out of our "Magnificent
Seven" 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games Women's Team, along with their
coaches had been gymnastically active for years in Mr. Goodson's "Profile
System" Jr. Elite Gymnastic Development Program. Record shows
that these Olympic gymnasts and their coaches were active from 2 to
7 years each working the Russian based " Profile Gymnastic
System" and beginning with training and passing: (1) National
Physical Ability & Profile Elements Jr. Elite Testing, (2) learning
and using many of Gary's United States/Canadian, Russian and Chinese
studied, "state of the art coaching techniques", (3) using
the state the art Sports Medicine/Science from (Dr.'s Benadot,
Nutritionist; Massimo, Psychologist; Rocco, Sports Orthopedic Surgeon;
and Physical Therapists Black ; Ross Breakville; and Physiologist
, John Frapier while gymnasts attending Winter / Summer National &
International Jr. Elite Development Program Training Camps.

INTRODUCTION
- What
we do upon some great occasion will
probably depend on what we already are;
and what we will be the result of
previous years of self discipline -
H.P.Liddon
The Profile
Gymnast: The Profile female
gymnasts in the National Open Gymnastic Program
will become the best they can become in
gymnastics by beginning her gymnastics as young
as possible, perhaps as young as 6 to 8 years of
age.
Then, follow
these three important steps:
(1)
The gymnast must get into good gymnastic physical
condition as soon as possible; and stay in good
physical condition!
(2)
The gymnast must then master the key/core,
"Profile Gymnastic Elements" as soon as
possible! Note, Profile Elements are partially
defined as elements of central tendency in
families of gymnastic moves.*
*Definition of Profile Gymnastic Elements:
Profile Elements are identified by listing
gymnastic elements into families, i.e. the Kip
Family as performed by women gymnasts on the
un-even bars. These Kips are then listed in order
of difficulty beginning with the simplest Kip to
the most difficult/complex Kip. The
Profile Element is the Kip in the middle.
The Mean, Median, Mode element in the family of
Kips. This simply becomes the element of
central tendency in the family of moves.
These Profile Elements which have been determined
in all families of gymnastic elements in each of
the women's four Olympic events must then be
mastered by women gymnasts as soon as possible!
(3)
The gymnast must then do thousands of correct
repetitions of these Profile Elements!
(4) With the above steps (#1,
#2, #3) well established, the gymnastic coach and
gymnasts can now safely add an additional
flip/twist or both to the "Profile
Element" and they are now likely executing
the best, possibly original gymnastic element in
the U.S./World!
